Our Employee Highlight today features Warranty/Parts Specialist, Tara Quattlebaum. Tara has been with Excellance for 8 years and we decided it was a great time to ask her about her experiences this far.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do at Excellance.
TARA: I am 40 years old and recently single. I have been married a couple of times and it just hasn’t seemed to work out. I am the Warranty-Parts Specialist at Excellance. I take care of the customers after their units are delivered to them. I take the phone calls related to parts and sale parts to the customers. I also purchase the standard parts for the shop for us to build the units.
How did you come to work at Excellance and what do you enjoy most about the work you do?
TARA: That is a good story, how I came to be at Excellance. I was originally here the first time in July of 2000. Steve Vaughan, VP, was in Walmart in Madison where I was currently working as Support Manager in the Tire and Lube Express. He was looking for some wiper refills. I was on the phone, checking a customer out, and cutting a key when he saw me. I ended up selling him a set of wipers. He then gave me a letter that asked me to come to Excellance for an interview for their Purchasing Agent spot. I ended up coming and accepting the job. I worked for 2 ½ years and then got married and moved off. When I came back, Cathy called me (who had took my old purchasing job) and offered me one in Warranty-Parts. I have been here ever since.
What has been the most interesting thing you have seen or done at Excellance?
TARA: There have been so many interesting things I have come across working at Excellance that it’s really hard to pin point just one. For example, when we built the Haz-Mat POD and the numerous Neonatal units, which are all just amazing to me!
What do you like to do outside of work? And how to you balance your career and family life?
TARA: Outside of work, I like to read, hunt, fish, watch movies (preferably horror/action), crochet, shoot and pretty much anything having to do with my family and friends. I try, like everyone, to keep my work and personal life separate. As I see it though, I have my family and my work family. I spend more time with my work family than I do with my actual family.
If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
TARA: Oh, that is a tough one. This one had me thinking. Anyone who knows me is aware that I would love to meet Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead, Boondock Saints, Blade: Trinity). But, I would have to pick Garth Brooks if I could meet just one person. His music has gotten me through so much in my life. I can be down and listen to him and it brightens my day.
What is your favorite book or TV show?
TARA: Well, I would have to split this one in two. My book series would be The Dark Hunters by Sherrilyn Kenyon and my favorite TV Show would have to be The Walking Dead followed by The Big Bang Theory.
Lastly, what did you want to be when you grew up and how did that change over the years?
TARA: I am an animal lover and I wanted to be a Veterinarian when I grew up. Instead of helping animals though, I see it as I am helping people get back home to their fur babies by working at Excellance and building the best ambulances in the world.
