In our Employee Highlight, we have Payroll Coordinator Dianna Beckwith. Dianna just celebrated nine years at Excellance this week, and we decided it was a great time to ask her about her experiences this far.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
DIANNA BECKWITH: I am originally from Springfield, Michigan and Robert & I recently celebrated our 35th anniversary. We have a daughter and a son alongside two grandsons (who are the very best!). We have lived in Texas, Alaska, Kentucky, Germany, South Carolina and Tennessee before moving to Alabama. I graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a BS in Accounting, not starting college until I was in my 30s, and have worked in the accounting field ever since.
You have been at Excellance, Inc for nine years. Can you tell us your role here (kind of a rundown of your day)?
DIANNA BECKWITH: I process payroll weekly for our employees and also do the invoicing for the units and parts that are sold.
What would people never guess you do in your role?
DIANNA BECKWITH: Several small things like I am Katy’s backup when she is absent–so I answer the phone and help people at the front desk. I also keep track of the awards, print certificates, order plaques and flowers and try to help employees with questions they have about paychecks, taxes, 401K and insurances.
How did you first learn about Excellance and what do you like most about working here?
DIANNA BECKWITH: I saw an advertisement on the internet for an accountant and applied, shortly after I was hired. The part I like best is our employees, paying them weekly and helping them when I can.
What is on your wish list for the next 2-5 years at Excellance?
DIANNA BECKWITH: To be in the accounting department, helping people and not having enough time to do payroll and the invoicing for units and parts and process large bonus checks quarterly!
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
DIANNA BECKWITH: I enjoy spending time with my family and hanging out with my grandsons.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
DIANNA BECKWITH: To grow old without getting old.
Lastly, what is your biggest pet peeve?
DIANNA BECKWITH: When people aren’t willing to help others or do tasks because it “isn’t their job.”
